I don't carry weight either. Just average guy, love my cars, wanted a shirt and to promote the site. I personaly don't condone that behavior and if I ran a site, I would not allow it. Nothing against Steve, he may not even be aware of these problems. He runs many sites at the same time.
Anyone can personally edit THEIR OWN TEXT, on THEIR own posts. I do it almost everytime due to TYPO'S. Most site's, this one included, (i think) allow their appointed mod's the ability to edit ANYONE'S posts. This is most often done when people say thing's that are rude, mean, flaming etc. A mod merely cleans things up as to keep the peace. It is subjective to a point, but also is meant to stay within the T&C of the sites owner. If I am reading THIS THREAD correctly, you are suggesting a MOD also a vendor here, is editing out things maybe unflattering to his/her product????? Like if I said it was junk don't buy it? That would be and is edited as you see it???? BTW, I don't even know this product so that was NOT a direct slam, it was an example. Anyway, I think STEVE, SHOULD be allowed to edit out rude slamming of a vendor, but the vendor him/herself should not. We all have opinions and as long as they are not rude, should be allowed to be said. Editing out for the reasons it seems he's doing it, is to me, just weak.....

Reason: TYPO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't this guy get banned from the website once before? Didn't he simply change his name around to get back on here? I don't get whats going on here? I think someone might have to step up here and give this dude a talkin' to. We don't need this shit on here.

Vendors have moderator privileges of their own vendor forum.
He is not so much a moderator, but more so a Vendor.
my take on a new starting vendor if you dont have results for your product either get them first or offer some great deals and i dont mean 5 dollars under what everyone else sells them for.... he should have taken 1 car for each model year so a 2005 3.5 up to 2008 then 2005 2.7 up to 2008...then offered them a huge discount i mean like no more then 1000 for the whole kit with install... then used those vehicles for testing and tuning to show results and perfect the kit....this would also get word of mouth out about the kit and the vendor in tern boosting sales....in my opinion all the crap pulled on here will more then likely break this company....could have been a very promising venture O well.......
One thing to understand is that forums such as these use software and framework templates with an administrative back bone. There are different permissions levels of users that are typically pre-defined. Example: I moderate the photo contest, well since the photo contest is not in a seperate sub forum in order to give me editing rights Steve had to change my account to a power-user or administrative type level. I dont know the software real well but I would guess that Steve would not be able to change the fact that Vendors can edit user's post within their forum area. They either have moderator access or they dont, it would be a matter of editing permissions of the moderator security group. However, moderators must reserve that right in order to effectively do their job.
The ability to edit a post is not entirely a bad thing. It allows moderators to edit inappropriate content while keeping valid parts of the post.
In regards to this situation: As a member I get mixed vibes from him. After all its the internet, you dont have the luxury of talking to someone face to face so word choice and perception plays a great deal into character. I've exchanged some PMs with him and posted on some of his threads and watched many of the responses. I think because of activity under past usernames and the spam vibe given from use of all caps and long keyword list thread titles, etc many of you were on the defense. So there has been tension in just about every thread to date. I dont think he had bad intentions in the posts you are all referring to, but editing of posts is never going to go over well.

Vendors are moderators of their own forum area. They can edit and delete threads as well as delete and edit posts. I wont comment on the ethicality of doing said behavior, it goes without saying.
