The platform has already been designed, and it would be too pricey for the manufacturer that's already in the brink of utter failure to R&D the necessary changes/reinforcement to the frame to support the convertible design. That's why they sub-contract 3rd party to custom make them so they're not responsible for any unsafe shortcuts while the build was complete, and its then labeled as a promo or show car not for public resale
