    Need computer help! Anitvirus Live

Just after I posted my snow pics, Anitvirus Live took over my computer...again. This is the third time I've had it take over. Previously, I was able to run MalwareBytes in Safe Mode and cleared it out. However, I can not seem to get it cleaned out this time.

I have not been on any "suspicious" websites. I have not downloaded anything lately. I have Norton 2006 running with all of the updates. Windows is fully update. I just ran a full scan through Norton and found nothing even though my computer screen is covered with Anitvirus Live crap. I ran MalwareBytes and it found nothing. Obviously this is not the case since it has completely hijacked my computer.

Anybody have any ideas how to get ride of this crap for good?

I am posting this from Safe Mode with Networking.

Norton sucks! Antivirus Live is not really a virus so will not be treated as one... if your running xp try restoring to an earlier time like a month ago this will usually remove the program and all its BS... usually this type of program loads secretly in your start up files in the registry... you can delete all the DLL's till your blue in the face but they will keep regenerating till the crap is gone

    yea some are nasty SOB's.

I don't know if this will do anything, but it's worth a try. It's called SmitFraudfix. Some viruses block programs like this from working, but you just have to rename the .exe file (I renamed it smitfraudf*****.exe :P...without the asterisks)

I found a windows security scanner that I had to download from the interent. It is still running and could take a few more hours to complete. So far it has found 6 "items" and 4 "issues". I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will do the trick. However, I still need to know what to do to prevent this from happening again. This crap is blowing right past Norton without raising the slightest bit of question.

What is the best security software out there? I am willing to pay for some real protection to stop this BS for good.

FYI, we have a TV tuner card in our PC and watch TV on it at least 5 days per week. So this is pretty much attacking my TV too!

I fixed my windows virus problems by going to PCLinuxOS, no more viruses. My last experience with one, it infected a .dll file required to initialize any program, at that point I switched to Linux and haven't looked back. Also all the free software is a total plus.

Looks like the scanner is done and cleaned up several files. Time to reboot to see if I'm back in business.
