Top ten reasons NOT to use 89 w/ Ethenal...go

All,

I just paid $2.69, after a 5 cent discout, a gallon at SAMS for 87 octane. I asked my beautiful bride to grab my newly delivered (don't ask) owner's manual. It says that you can use either 87 or 89 octane for the 3.5L V6....

I'm no gear-head, I'm not even a oil-change head...so I need some professional advise, go with the 89 and save 15-20 cents a gallon, or stick with the 87?

The 3.5L is considered a H.O. (High Output) with a 9.9:1 compression. I think the Owner's Manual also says preferred is 89 with short uses of 87. I used 87 once on a road trip and I could tell the difference. Now days with everyone using the cheaper 89, they have rasied the price here even with the 97. $2.59 87/89 $2.79 91
