Performance TalkTalk about getting those extra ponies out of your V6 or Hemi
Well I replaced my hood struts this weekend and decided to pull the air intake silencer while I had the garage to myself. I didn't take pictures because others have posted relevant pictures in other threads... I just didn't see many threads where Hemi folks had taken their silencer off.
The process was the same as the SE and SXT models. I pulled the front belly pan(7mm) minus a bolt or two on the passenger side, and also took out the first 10mm bolt on the driver side connecting the front and back belly pan. I also found it helpful to remove the bottom 2 plastic rivets from the driver fender skirt. The 10mm bolt holding the silencer up was a PITA to reach, I had (3) 2 inch socket extensions and could barely reach it. Once that was out I had to jack up the car a little but the big silencer came right out.
The result is a better sounding motor, IMO. I think someone else said it sounds less like a vacuum and more like a big motor and I'll stick with that. I haven't felt any noticeable performance change, but that's not what I was looking for. When I hit 3500 RPM it definitely sounds meaner than it did before. Assuming you have the common tools, this is free and I definitely recommend doing it.
The only reason we have chosed to leave all of our ON is we live on this dirt road and don't want all that dust and debry coming up into the engine bay!
Can anyone please post pics and directions to removing this unit, I picked up my Magnum about a month ago and am not able to drive it due to seizures but am willing to mod the hell out of it while she sits there. Thanks

I used to live on a dirt road too. Back when I had my Ranger, I removed and trashed the driver side plastic fender wheel when I installed my 4/5 drop. BIG MISTAKE, it got to the point where I could never get the engine bay as clean as I wanted.
