180 T-stat installed, help adjusting predator?
I was wondering what/how/why the Predator should be adjusted considering this new mod. I dont know if it matters but I live in AZ and it is really hot here about 8 months out of the year! Thanks

If you do not adjust the fans they will not come on with the lower temps...They are programmed to come on over 200 ish......I reprogrammed mine and the car stays at 186....all day.....
Here is the post from Fireman2118 (bill) to me when I did mine.... .Here's how I set up my fan speeds with a 180 thermostat. They have my car running at 183 to 186 and on hot days in traffic, it may get to 192 tops. The temps could be set cooler but then the fans would be running too much, which puts them at risk of wearing out too quickly. It's best to go with a 170 thermostat if even cooler temps are desired. With a 180 thermostat, I've found these settings to be a good balance between fan longevity and cool running. When in the Predator, load your tune and select "modify tune" You'll see "Cooling fans A/C off" "Cooling fans A/C on" select "Cooling fans A/C off" Here, you'll have 6 settings. Set them as follows -As the temps are set make sure to save each one. High MPH HS fan on - 192.19 High MPH LS fan on - 184.99 High MPH MS fan on - 192.19 Low MPH HS fan on - 192.19 Low MPH LS fan on - 184.99 Low MPH MS fan on - 192.19 Now go back to "modify tune" and select "Cooling fans A/C on" Here you have 3 settings. Set as follows HS fan on - 192.19 LS fan on - 184.99 MS fan on - 192.19 These setting will keep your car in the mid 180s to 190 or so. |

It sure seems like my fans are on A LOT! As soon as my Magnum warms up it seems like the fans never turn off.. If this is not normal I am thinking I got the wrong T-stat.. Is there anyway to check the T-stat that was installed? (the Mag's previous owner told me he is 100% it the 180 was installed)

You may have the wrong thermostat installed. The fans will operate a bit more than usual but they shouldn't be on all that much.
I would recommend the Jet 180 thermostat (Part # 10183). I just switched to that when I had my heads and cam installed. It works really well. Last edited by Fireman2118; 11-23-2009 at 07:35 AM.. |

Ok I have read a bunch of threads about this and Still not sure I get it. A little slow tonight. My mag started throwing a 0128 code so my first step is to check fluid level and replace the Tstat and hope that solves the problem. From what I have read many of you have gone with the 180 tstat but this is only good with a fan speed adjustment. Since i do have a CAI but not a Predator I should go with a stock Tstat until I am ready to buy a Predator. Is this accurate?

That would probably be a good idea, when I installed the 180 without adjusting the fans, nothing changed, she still ran at 210........after the predator, 185......
