Weird experience on Thursday night. I was coming home with two friends in the car (lets say about 400lbs of extra weight) from Best Buy. I wasn't driving erratically, accelerating quickly or anything, I was just driving.
Then this guy (normally dressed, mid 30's) in a VW Passat just blows by me on the left - didn't think anything of it. A little later down the highway, he's in the right lane and I am gaining on him, I get close and he takes off again. At this point, I'm still on cruise control. Now my buddies are asking WTF is this guy doing. A little later we gain on him again, this time it looks like he's not gonna take off and he's in the right lane, so I have to change lanes to pass.
Just when I'm about even with him, he takes off again. Well at this point, I've had it. I put the hammer down, already going 60.
Within a few seconds I'm passing him and then he quickly exits the highway.
I haven’t had something like that happen in about 10 years, and that was across the street from my high school. I don't know what was going through that guys head to think he could take me. Very strange!
My neighbor and good friend's wife has a passat station wagon, it's only a 4 banger, but I have to admit it will fly! Not as fast as the Maggie, but it's turbo, and it ain't slow by any means. I'd like to see what it would do next to an sxt.
hello we had a similar thing happen last night we were coming back from GA where my Friend bought a 2007 srt magnum on ebay but it was with 4 cars the best was a merc marauder they would play for a short time than get off the highway we ran each one down with no issues it was really kind of fun any way the first one was a mazda 3 lol
I owned a new VW Beetle Turbo, it wasn't very good on the low end, but cruising on the highway and flooring it you could defiantly feel the turbo doing its job... I never tried to race anyone in the damn thing though! Especiall not a magnum, I would be too busy trying to get close to check it out hehe
If you saw a Lamborghini on the highway while driving yer Magnum, and you were curious to see what it'd do, wouldn't you probably do the same thing? You weren't in the Passat, so talkin' smack on him is kinda dumb. Maybe he just wanted to see what yer Magnum could do? Do you own an SRT-8? If so, all the more reason.
Has nobody ever lined up against something they'd know they'd lose to just to see where they'd stand?
Back in the day, I had a Sentra SE-R with a SR20DET swap, and saw a 993 911 turbo on the highway. Long story short, let's just say to all of our surprise, even me, I stuck with him, and made him regret $100,000 he spent with my $6,000 car.
