Question: what exactly occurs that can screw up the headlights? I mean how does water get in it after you've sealed it or what

great write up, I just got mine apart, but just to let you know, there is some heavy duty sealant on 2007 models, I melted one of my lights, and the other one took about 4 hours to get apart with heat gun, I got another light off 2006 model, and it only took about half an hour to get apart with heat gun.

did u not put it in the oven???i thought you wouldnt need the heat gun until removing excess sealant was an issue??i have an 07 and dont want to melt a light!now that i have a walk through im hoping all it will take is some guts!the video justin posted makes it look effortless!...obviously its a little tougher the first time around...great writeup rip!

In that instructional AAC video they are not using a Magnum head light.

The process might be the same for any head light but different lights my come with their own unique hurdles.

I will be trying it out myself the week after Spring Fest (vacation) on my new head light I just got this week.

yeah, I started using the oven, and melted the light in there, it was so f#$%ing stuck and I was getting very frustrated, so I increased the heat. Then I saw some thread here saying you should only use heat gun and not the oven, so thats what I did. I was also very scared of the oven after the meltdown. But like I said, the light I got from the 06 model, was so much easier.

I'm color matching and will post pics when done.

ps. I mess things up before they get right, all the time, but the only way to learn anything is to try!

im thinking about just shipping them off...the loss of a headlight is gonna be more expensive than the shipping, both ways, and labor...

yeah that's the easy way, and I would probably have done that if I wasn't so freaking far away.

My biggest concern with cracking open the lights is resealing them, is anyone taking any extra steps to apply more adhesive so moisture doesn't start blowing out lights?
