Had an issue like this before (on a diff car) and it was two of the lug nuts. They weren't 100% seated but they were on. Low speeds were fine but there was a range (around 50-60mph) where there was enough force on the wheels to pull away from the rotor/hub assembley and would move towards the lugs. When I got over 60, there was enough symetrical force to hold the wheel up against those lugs and not allow it to travel towards the hub. This also gave me some nasty outter tire wear since I did a lot of high speed driving.

Even if it's not the problem, it's always worth it to check your lugs. I check mine every oil change unless I suspect something. Good luck my friend.

I am changing the right side wheel bearing , it howls and growls at 20-0 braking, and seems to be the cause of my shaking. the tires seem very true, rims are definitely true, going to check lugs but isnt much of a fix considering i'm changing the bearing/hub assembly. got mine for $76.99, homie-hook-up pricing at a parts store. i'm not making any big trips till its fixed. next stop, tie rod ends and a re-balance of the wheels if its still aggravating me.....

i had loose lug nuts. bearing is fine. tire is junk most likely. going back to stock wheels and selling my D's to a friend who *must* have them for his 95 Impala SS. time to get some wheels that have the correct bolt pattern to seat and stay!

Ok, though I am new to the whole street scene thing this is familiar ground for me. Normally when you get a shimmy at a certain speed it is due to a harmonic imbalance caused through either driveline angles or wheel weights.

Jeeps (my area of dealing with this) get this a lot. The bigger a tire is the less likely you are going to get it to zero out on a balance. It can be caused from weights, rims or tires.

Now I don't know if it is done in the on road world but me and a lot of other people who run large tires offroad (35s in my case) run media balance. Rather than stuck on wheel weights these are pellets that go into the tire. I use 12g airsoft pellets.

The logic is that when a tire rotates with stuck on weights that were put on by some kid he may not of hit it right.

With media it is a predetermined weight for the size tire and this weight moves freely and goes to where the tire needs it, thus providing a true balance.

I wrestled with stick weights for 6 months and never got it right. Went with media and have been perfect since.
