Contact DS and talk to them. There is nothing in the tune programming that would cause smoke, other than it sucking built up oik from the intake low spots without a catch can. You can use the tool to check for knock retard.
If the smoke is bluish, it's oil. If black, then the fuel tables are way off, which is a tune problem.

Seems, in my non expert opinion, it was an electrical connection issue between the plug & unit. Each end of the connectors have burnt areas on them and smell of electrical fire. I'm leaning towards bad cable shorted out the bottom input on the unit. The USB Input was unaffected and worked perfectly w/ PC before/after incident. However the unit couldn't connect w/ Maggie. 😞

Spoke to Diablo, they also agree not the norm & suggest exchange.

I still believe (after calming down, man I was ticked) that this is a good product and deserves a chance. Cords are probable sourced from overseas anyhow.

Good to hear. I too tend to get slightly "altered" if I've spent good money for something and can't use it.

Checked the port w/ another reader, it was sending/receiving data etc - seems fine. Thankfully.

Looking forward to the next go around- at this point it's a "mission" I must complete.

Appreciate all of your feedback. It's like someone's got my back even when I'm in the dark about a topic.

I installed an InTune into my freind's SRT8 Charger today and it was fine. Took about 30 seconds or so total and no issues at all. Of course, I did this as a base for a superchager tune we are making for the car, so no driving impressions before/ after will be available. I'll post results after it gets tuned with the blower though.....

As a side note, I unmarried the Predator from my brother's Daytona last week and put it on my Magnum.....just to play with it. The car ran a little better, but not much of a difference at all with the shift points or shift firmness. What gives? I want to be able to really control up/ down shifts with the stick...and I'd like much firmer shifts. Still stock-ish after adjustments......

The shift firmness becomes more aggressive as the driving style gets more aggressive. You should notice firmer shifts at wide open throttle. Not so much at partial throttle ( normal driving)

Set the transmission settings as follows in your car -

Autostick auto up shift - Mode 1
    increase firmness - yes
    reset adaptives - yes
gear ratio - leave alone unless you've changed the gear set in the differential or changed the differential.
Shift points - stock is fine on a non-modified motor

Keep in mind that with Autostick mode 1, your manual mode will be like a true manual transmission in that if you're in 1st gear and forget to shift, you'll bounce off the rev limiter. No worries though, the rev limiter is pre set in the tune to coincide with the stock shift points. As long as you don't raise the shift points, the rev limiter settings will be fine. (rev limiter is typically 100-200 rpm higher than the shift points)

Understand that the Diablo transmission settings are programmed to be "safe" for the transmission. To get truly aggressive shifting, a upgraded valve body, ugraded shift solenoids (AMG blue tops) and/or electronic upgrades such as the "tranzformer" or "silverbox" are required.

OK, good to know...dissapointing though because as a Ford guy and Mustang builder......I have to say that Fords are so much easier to tune!!!!!!!!!!

Other than the fact that everyone has to admit that if not for the original 5.0 Mustang:

there would BE next to NO aftermarket (you may not like it, but you know it! Where would Flowmaster be w/o the 5.0? Where would FORD or Edlebrock have been in the 80's?)

I know when I tune even an '05 Mustang GT with an SCT Xcal, Xcal2, or 3 that if you put a CAI, 4.10's, and pipes on it you were chirping gears through 2nd and 3rd in an auto.......I have not seen that you can do that with the LX cars!!

Don't get me wrong, I just parked the Mag in the garage and had a ball driving it home tonite and love the car...it's definately a different ballpark than the Fords and lots of fun......it's just not as ""mod-able" as I've seen the Fords to be....the SRT8 I have been playing with is going to be $$$$ to tune. Whereas my '03 Cobra took 1.5 hours on the dnyo to do. Not bitching, it's just different. I am used to the easy side, but am having fun with learning new things! I also realize easy is not always better, as much as I love the Mustangs........I grow weary of them, lol.......too much of the same thing, you know?

No issues building and tuning my Hemi. It's all about what you're comfortable with. If you put gears in an LX, you can do the same thing. I know!.....I have a 3.91 Getrag LSD in my car and I chirp with 22's!!!!

Okay, so the beat goes on...

Received my INTUNE unit yesterday... tried to upload tune today BUT the diablo unit had to perform an update to my factory PCM parameters (on which all Diablo tunes can be loaded). Well, after an hour on the phone with tech support, 4 failed install attempts - (during which my car was dead...) it finally took. Then my intune could copy the new factory tune and FINALLY I was on my way to loading the diablo tunes....

THOSE THAT HAVE 05's, anticipate at least some possible hiccups during the "programming" process.

Im running the 91 Octane CAI preloaded tune (for starters).

Initial results - WHERE THE HELL DID ALL THIS POWER COME FROM. Traction on I still roast the tires. I wanted more power and I GOT IT !!!!

Despite all my troubles, the end result is just what I wanted. Thanks to all for the feedback... I don't know how many times I wanted to give up and throw in the towel. Glad I didn't!

Fireman, which base tune do I use for 93 octane? I have it on 91 octane CAI setting currently. Also in tranny mode 1, if I leave it in Drive will it still have aggressive up shifts?

    Thanks

... Just drove it. 2nd gear scratch all day! Thus "yes" to aggressive upshifts The "CAI TUNE" is a 93 octane tune!

Hahaha, sounds like you're figuring it out. As long as you selected "increased" under shift firmness, you'll have more aggressive shifts. Keep in mind that these cars typically shift firmer as the driving becomes more aggressive (WOT) As you drive around normally, the transmission adaptives may start to shift a bit softer. Hook up the Intune, go to transmission settings and reset the adaptives. This will give you better shifts.

Use the tune for the octane fuel you're using! If you have 93 octane, use the 93 tune. If not, use the 91 tune.

True......The '05s can be a bit tempermental on initial tuning. You can help speed the process of clearing the old tune adaptives by pulling fuse #11 (under hood) for 30 seconds. Make sure the key is "off"

Maybe that's what I did wrong when loading my brothers Predator into my car, the #11 fuse. I noticed not a big difference at all. I will have to try again now, thanks!
