Description:
|
Following the lines of the Viper hood, our engineers designed the Magnum Hood. Emulating the Viper design, the Magnum Hood can be made functional bringing fresh, cool air directly into the inlet for increased airflow and performance. The Magnum Hood is crafted from hi-temp, hand laid fiberglass for exceptional strength and durability. Installation is straightforward using the Magnum's stock hardware.

Where do I begin with this one?
It shows up in baaad shape, man. Not close to being ready to paint. Mine has 5 layers of sand and fill with a good block sanding between each and still look pretty nappy. Lotsa warps and pits and you can see and feel fiberglass mesh in many places. The fit is not bad as far as bolting it on, but the passenger side wiper rubs the cowl. IN the rain, water comes through the scoop, drips onto the air filter and is sucked into the engine. They say it's not enough to do much harm.
Then there is 'they'. You have a choice in who you buy your stuff from. If digging some of RK's products, I siggest at least going through Josh at highhorseperformance.com. He'll see it gets to you. RK themselves are not very good to buy from directly. I tried to get a chin spoiler from them. Weeks went by and it never showed up so I called to see whats up. It was explained to me that what I purchased didn't really excist yet, was on back order and that my credit card would simply be charged one day when the product is available. That's not just false advertising, that's dinkin with a brother's money and I don't like that.
Your best of passing on this one unless you find a used one at a bargain price.

The hood looks good on the car but ethier from the factory or the body shop mine has some waves in it. I plan on resanding it and fixing the dimples and waves in the hood myself and the wife is going to respray the front end and see if we can get it lookn better.

I really have about a 98% product satifaction on this.
The other 2% is probably the fitment where the hood line and the facia meet up.
The line between the facia and the hood are not as tight as I would like it to be.
Overall (IMO) it's the best looking aftermarket hood out there for the Magnum.

Styling and Function

Cons:

The early units were more diffficult to get aligned properly,
|
|
I had to wait a couple extra week while they remade the casting mold. It was well worth the wait it came smooth and very little prep was needed to get it ready for paint. I was lucky, mine was painted by 402 Motoring in New Jersey. It is the best looking for my money. I like it understated and unique.
