    06 RT sputtering, wont run, need a repair shop in So Cal/IE

    Hello,

    My name is Tony and I have an 06 Magnum R/T 5.7L Hemi (85K) that was running fine, I drove it on the freeway for about 3-4 miles at 85ph exited and pulled into a store lot turned the vehicle off went inside for 10 minutes came out to start the car and it wouldn't stay running, sounded like it was sputtering and would die on its own.
    I'm not sure what happened timing, valves, bearings, etc... so I wanted to reach out to the Magnum community for assistance in pin pointing the issue and locating a reputable Dodge/Hemi repair shop in Southern California/Inland Empire.

    I know there is a place in Murrieta called Mopar Alternatives. (951) 600-1166. Been there and they were good. Did you check crank sensor? Mine went out and car did same thing...

    Was it very hard/intricate to change or figure out that it was the crank sensor?

    Hey try gas tank recall, I had the same problem and finally found out it was a recall on gas tank that made the engine die. Don't fill it up in the mean time just put a very little gas in it. Hope this helps. Lybbe2

    Have been having similar issues with my 2006 Magnum 5.7L (98k miles): Rough idle, engine stalling (turning off)/stumbling at random times at or near idle
    Problem was very intermittent at first, has become much more frequent
    Not dependent on fuel fill level, outside temp, or how long car has been running

    Over last year:

    EGR replaced
    Battery replaced
    Alternator replaced
    Radiator fan replaced
    PCV hose replaced
    Fuel tank replaced
    New spark plugs
    Crank position sensor replaced
    Throttle body cleaned
    Engine and trans mounts replaced
    Cam position sensor replaced
    Soldered in new #4 injector pigtail (repair rodent damage)
    PCV replaced
    Fuel cap replaced
    Battery ground upgraded
    ECU replaced with rebuild from Auto Computer Exchange
    (no difference, so original ECU reinstalled and replacement returned)
    EVAP canister and purge solenoid replaced

    My mechanic replaced the ECU a second time from a different source and while my idle is still rather bumpy it hasn't stalled in over 300 miles. Still building confidence, but it does seem to have finally fixed it.

    well just found out its a valve seat that dropped and ruined my engine, I need a new engine and I was steered toward Jasper but they are sure expensive!

    I went to Mopar alternatives but they want $8000 for rebuilt Jasper engine, new intake and install, does anyone know if this is a decent price?

    I just ordered form CARCOMPUTEREXCHANGE.COM a new ECU. Where did you get your 2nd ECU from???

    My mechanic ordered it, so not sure where they got it from. I think those "reman" ECUs are a roll of the dice, many places don't seem to actually repair anything in them before sending them out. Something seems to degrade over time that puts these particular ECUs into the edge of tolerances and cause these intermittent faults. My hunch is the electrolytic capacitors, but I wound up selling the car before the problem resurfaced again. Got a Scat Pack Challenger with the wife's blessing
