noone has ever done it, although its been talked about quite a bit. Do some research on the tremec 6 speed, there was a company, and it may have been tremec actually, that at one time had either offered or talked about offering the conversion kit (wiring, and the trans, would still have to come up with the actual workings such as the clutch pedal etc)

They've put a Viper V-10 drive train in a 300, but had some issues with the electronics. I'd imagine dropping a Challenger setup into a Magnum/300/Charger would be easier.

I am sure that once there are more salvage r/t challeys and srts that this will start being a easier to do.. I bet that the wiring harnesses will be interchangeable and having access to the brains of the challey, will make this a easier job.. then the rewrite of vin numbers and such.... bet that the clutch pedal will almost bolt right in too... we will see

Everything I have read is that the 6 speed Challengers are slower than the autos. The ratio's are so low you can't get to 60 until 3rd gear. 2 gear changes really hurts the acceleration.

yea, the 6-speed Challenger RT's have a 3.06 rear end. That's what I have in my mag right now and it's definitely peppier than the stock 2.82, but that's because of our NAG-1 gear ratios. There are higher ratios available out there, but they can get pricey to install. With the electronic shift kit & paddleshifting/autostick, its easy to chirp 2nd at will.

No that is incorrect, the 6 speed Challengers have 3.91's. The 6 speed part the Trak Pak option.

Just like the Trak Pack, and the 6spd is optional, so is the Gear ratio... Plus as of currently, 3:91 Gears with the 6spd, generally depends on weither or not you have optioned the car with a certain wheel and tire package, which is the same way you can get 3:91's in an Auto RT...
Talk about pulling a Thread from the Graves....

As for doing a 6spd conversion in an LX, the SRT Engineers & Race Team accomplished the conversion, back in late '07-09... They converted an SRT Charger, and afew RT Chargers disguised as SRTs, for Sam H., & his Drift Team... Common consensus is that the easiest year LX to do the conversion on, is a 2008-10 model, as they already communicate on the same Canbus B Source as the 08-Current Challenger electronics... An 08-10 RT/RT-R/SRT would be the easiest, but even Jon has said an 08 3.5L 6spd swap is fairly doable, you just got to find someone who knows how to play with the software enough to rewrite it properly... At the sametime, the conversion is nowhere near cheap, and realistically, the Autos have way more Faster shifting capabilites... They also have fewer margins of error, when it comes to even the most seasoned 6spd driver...
