How To: Install HID Low Beam and Fog Lights

This article will take you through the steps to install a HID upgrade lighting kit on your Dodge Magnum. This is a fairly simple install that should only take around 30 minutes for the headlights and about an hour for the fog lights. Here is a list of suggested tools:

10mm socket
7mm or 5/32" socket or nutdriver
Interior Panel Popper or Flathead screwdriver
Crescent wrench
Cordless Drill
Self Tapping screws
Zip Ties

Here is a pic of the HID kit. It consist of a ballast and light bulb for each side.

1. Remove your stock air box. I had a K&N intake on so I needed to remove the filter and heat shield in order to gain access to the headlight.

2. Twist the stock headlight bulb and wiggle it out of the housing.

3.Remove the stock bulb by releasing the tabs and pulling the bulb gently. Insert the new HID bulb into the housing and twist in to place, being VERY careful not to touch the bulb with your hands or allow any dirt to get on the bulb. This will cause the bulb to fail after a short time.

4. Next we must find a place to mount the ballasts. For the driver side, I chose to secure it underneath the K&N air filter. I am not sure if there is enough room under there if you have a stock airbox. It looks like there should be.

5. The passenger side is a little easier. You have easy access to the headlight housing. Remove the stock headlight bulb and replace with the HID bulb just like the driver side. For the passenger side, I chose to zip tie the ballast in place. I did not feel comfortable putting a screw in my fenderwell as it would damage the tire when the car was aired out.

6. Thats it for the headlights. Below is a picture comparing the stock headlight(driver) to the HID light(passenger).

FOG LIGHT INSTALL



7.For the fog light install we must remove the plastic shield underneath the car. Remove the 10 or so screws with either a 7mm or 5/32" socket or nutdriver.

8. Remove the 2 10mm bolts near the front crossmember.

9. Remove 3 plastic rivets in each wheelwell with a panel popper or flat head screwdriver.

10. Here is the stock foglight. Remove the bulb by twisting and insert the HID bulb.

11. There was plenty of room on each side to mount the ballast on the core support. It is a little tricky to get in there with a screwgun, but it can be done.

12. Repeat for other side and put the plastic shield back on the same way you took it off. Thats it. Here is a pic with the HID's on. The pics don't do the lights much justice. They are brighter and really light up the road.

Which kit is that? I had a kit that would start acting like a strobe light after about 10 minutes and flicker when i turned them on. What kit did you use for the fog lights, i can't find the h10 bulbs anywhere. Lights look good though, i really miss mine after the 2 days i had them installed.

Looks like your slamming the front end pretty good on some driveways!!
Yeah, I've hit a couple of dips in town that rattle your bones if you are too low. I get lazy about lifting it up, but have found a low enough drive height where I won't scrape. I am still scared of those parking blocks and tall curbs.

Do you know how to disable the headlight time delay when you arm/disarm the system? I don't have the EVIC and can't seem to do it from the remote.

looks great man, does anyone know where I can get a pair of factory foglights my SE just came with ugly plastic inserts
